CanAm X3 Oil Catch Can

650-oil-cc
Alba Racing Aluminum Oil Catch Can for CanAm X3

Stop your crank case oil/oil vapors from re-entering your engine/combustion chamber on your X3. When you introduce crank case oil into the combustion chamber through the intake track you open your self up to pre-ignition and detonation. This can lead to serious engine failure. Our Oil Catch Can helps separate oil/oil vapors from re-entering your engine through the intake track by physically separating the oil through a series of baffles inside the catch can. Race and Boosted engines especially create high volumes of vaporized oil from boost and high RPM. The X3 falls in that category and a catch can is a great addition. Also, if you are running e-85 you NEED a catch can, or you will introduce fuel into your oil. Beyond the tuning issues caused by oil vapors, it also seriously coats your entire intake track. Think about it… The oil/oil vapors enter your intake just before the turbo, then pass through the intercooler and then re-enter the combustion chamber (cylinder) through your intake valves, finally to be “re-burned” during the power-stroke. The oil will coat everything on its way back to the combustion chamber. It will thickly coat the intercooler, boost hoses, intake manifold and intake valves. Also just on the other side of these valves is where the combustion is taking place. The temperatures are extremely high. This is what causes the oil to solidify on the valves turning it into hard deposits. Another thing it is coating is the cooling fins in the intercooler. This will hinder the intercooler's ability to cool the air therefore lowering the efficiency.

Description

About the Kit:

Installing this catch can only requires basic hand tools and its an estimated 30mins of work. You need to locate and remove the stock vent line located just before the turbo. (You can easily access it through the service panel between the seats) Remove the vent hose from the nipple and keep the clamp. Now install the provided vacuum cap using the provided clamp. Cut the single zip tie that is holding the vent line. After the zip tie is cut, re-route the line to the driver side wheel well. Now install your filter and drain in the catch can. Next install the catch can on the frame rail (Near the muffler / see photos) and tighten snuggly using the stainless Allen head screws. Screw on the AN 90-degree fitting and clock it so it lines up with the OEM vent hose. Tighten AN fitting and slide vent hose over the barb fitting. Use the OEM hose clamp to attach the vent hose to the 90-degree. Check oil level every 10 hours.
