About Alba Racing muffler packing: We use the highest quality muffler packing we can get our hands on. All of it is USA made. We first wrap the perforated core with a Woven stainless steel W pattern wrap. This is then wrapped in stainless steel wool. The 2 stainless layers while overkill in a ATV dirt bike are necessary to help shield the Ceramic muffler packing. Signs of a muffler needing repacking? -Muffler will get raspier sounding and louder. -The rear of the mufflers paint will begin to fade due to no heat barrier. How often do you need to repack your muffler? We get this question a lot. The Raptor 700 can be very tough on mufflers depending on how it is driven. Unlike a car the muffler is very close to the cylinder head where the exhaust is very hot. We measured 1200 degrees coming out of the muffler tip. The biggest variance is the driver and terrain. The constant heat will just continues to build. We typically see people on the west coast needing to repack there mufflers faster than those on the east coast. This is mainly due to terrain. In the west coast it is wide open desert terrain and sand. Others who ride more peacefully or have terrain that is less demanding can make muffler packing last over a hundred hours.
